LA scribe post

June 10, 2007

Today in L.A we watched the movie “Get A Clue”. This movie is based on the book, “The Westing Game”. The Westing game is about a man’s twisted game. Sam Westing sets up a game based on his death. He makes everyone believe he is dead by writing his will that says, “My life was taken by one of you.” Now everyone gets clues to figure out who the murderer is. This book-movie is exiting. That is what we did today in L.A

Another place to get oil is from the OPEC countries. The
Ottoman Empire began in 1299 and ended in 1922. In the 16th and 17th centuries it was in control of parts 3 cotenants. The
Ottoman Empire was one of the most powerful empires in the world at that time. For six centuries the
Ottoman Empire was a major attraction. The city that’s name kept changing (
Constantinople,
Byzantium, and
Istanbul) was now
Istanbul. The area of the
Ottoman Empire was 4,633,226 sq mi. The government of the
Ottoman Empire was a monarchy. The ottomans thought of themselves as the universal empire. The
Ottoman Empire was the only Islamic country to challenge the rising power of
Western Europe between the 15th and 19th centuries. In 1638 the ottomans controlled
Turkey,
Syria,
Palestine,
Arabia, and
Egypt.  They controlled most of the
Balkan Peninsula. For almost 600 years the Turkish rulers made those countries pay heavy taxes and obey Muslim laws.

“Blog post”

December 5, 2006

The country of Libya has no rivers and it is mostly  desert. In Libya has an oasis which is green area that is fed by underground water. Libya also uses the aquifer to get the water. The aquifer is a rock layer full of water. NO FISH! The people get the fresh water from the aquifer if the layer is close to the surface. Libya gets it’s money from the underground pipeline that was built in the 1990’s. They get their food from imports. Did you know that the Berbers were the first known people to live in Africa. Libya is ruled be a dictator. A dictator is an all powerful leader. The Libyan dictator is Muammar Al-Qaddhafi. Libya used to be known for terrorism. Terrorism is violent acts against civilians to reach a certain goal. An example of their terrorism is the bombing of Pan AM flight 103.
